Ruled by the stars?

Do any zoners believe in astrology do you check your stars without fail,or do you dismiss it bunk. Has anything predicted in your star reading ever happened and has this made you change your view of
astrology. For the record I don't believe, but then I'm a typical Sagittarian. smile

I check my horoscope (I'm a Libra) in the newspaper occasionally but not every day. And I've never had a professional reading, although I've been tempted to. And no, nothing predicted has ever happened, but then those newspaper summaries are much too general. I wouldn't mind having a personal reading done by an astrologist some time.

I read my horoscope everyday, but you can't really go by those, since, like Becky said, it's for the general public, and not something that only pertains to you as an individual. I read a book called The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need, and it was very interesting. Each person isn't just one sign. We have different characteristics of several of the astrological signs, and the book showed you how to find everything out. It was very interesting. I think I'd like to have a personal reading done. I think it'd be interesting.

I agree about the the newspaper horoscopes being too general. Sometimes they can apply to me while other times it is totally off. So the horoscopes I don't really believe in although they're interesting to listen to anyway. *smile* However, I did fine a website that will give an personal astrological chart for free and for me it was surprisingly accurate! *smile* You would need the exact time and place of your birth though so that it can be most accurate, although I believe it lets you get a chart even if you don't know that information. The website is:

So although I think the charts can be pretty accurate, I really don't understand the details like what it would all mean without a written explanation. Also, I've never had another person do a reading or anything for me, so I don't know about getting my future read from it or anything.

That's one reason why I liked the book that I mentioned. It showed you how to do your charts, and it explained everything, too.

I have a copy of my birth certificate, but it doesn't give the time I was born. Isn't that weird? I thought that would be required information on a birth certificate. Anyway, if I do have a reading I wonder how much not knowing the time of day would affect things.

Post 7 by Twinklestar09 (I've now got the bronze prolific poster award! now going for the silver award!) on Thursday, 02-Nov-2006 10:43:40

Yeah. Maybe it won't be too off, but I don't know.

Gemini, I have that same book you're talking about, and I like it as well. What I meant though was that, well, even though I read what the chart's positions meant,, I would not be able to put an interpretation of that into writing. It's just too many little details to get down in my opinion. *smile* I would love to get that book transcribed into Braile though, because I like reading it and would like to "Look thru" any part of it when I want to. *smile* Another book I like reading is called "Linda Boodman's Sun Signs." Although this only has information on sun signs (what most people mean when they ask your sign), and therefore may or may not be personally accurate, it is still interesting to read and can womewhat be applied to oneself or others. I used to have that book but lost or misplaced it though.

I've had an astrology reading done, but nothing from it ever really happened. I don't fault those who do believe in and rely on the stars, but I don't. I do believe they have energy, which does effect us, but so does all of Creation. Unfortunately, many people try to use things like astrology to make money off it. I'm not saying there aren't legitimate astrologers out there, but they seem far and few between.

I agree, sister Dawn. If I ever did have a reading done, I don't think I'd expect too much to come of it. I'm not sure if I'm a huge believer in astrology, but I do think it's interesting. As far as whether or not the time of day you were born matters n a situation of having your astrology read to you, I think it does make a difference. That's the impression I got from reading that book anyway. Sometimes, the sun or planets are positioned a certain way, and so what astrological sign we may think is present, could be totally wrong.

i do believe there can be some truth to it, i remember hearing a story when the stars and planets were in there position when jesus was born, the stars and planits will never be in the same spots again and told his story, how ever that works, like i said i believe ther could be something to it, i have had a couple of readings and if i had my sight alot of would have been true, and there was some that were so true. but as far as papers and such, it's just for fun.

I would like to clarify something. When you read astrology in a newspaper or magazine, what you actually read are predictions based ONLY on the position of the Sun. If you are Gemini then the Sun was in the sign of Gemini (Twins) at the moment of your birth. But that IS NOT astrology! To read a person's birth chart much more is required including the place and (as accurate as possible) the time of birth. Why all this is needed? Because to create the profile of a person as a whole, you look at the position of ALL planets including the Sun, and at the position of these planets in the 12 houses. Also you look at the aspects (how many degrees apart are these planets from each other) and you look at the trasits which is the movement of the planets in real time as the chart is a still time of the moment of your birth. Now I have to admit that reading my astrology sign in a magazine or newspaper is fun, but IT'S NOT ASTROLOGY. Unless you consider american pizza an authentic italian dish! Star (by the way if anyone is seriously interested in astrology and in having their birth chart read, send me a PM. I also do relationship and carreer charts)

How can anyone put their trust in what a mere human being has to say about something so unknowable and vast as is the universe? Don't misunderstand me, I believe that there are certain laws and energy which influence the scheme of things, certain natural events that can be predicted by statisticians, but isn't it impossible for a mere human being to know "what is written in the stars"? And now the astronomers are finding that there are possibly mor planets. I've heard of ancient civilizations having astronomers who predicted certain events that came to pass, even the Mayans or Aztecs (I think) have a prophecy that the world will end in December 21, 2012, but isn't the credibility of these predictions affected by the recent scientific discoveries? I mean, how can anyone believe that an event within the realm of futurity can be tapped into by something manmade such as these guidelines and books you guys are mentioning here? To me it's just another way of making money. I think there are certain laws that govern our universe, but not even the wisest astronomers or scientists can understand the very things they look into. I've read philosophy books in which great minds have expressed their awe at the grandness of nature, and even they themselves claim that the universe is unknowable.

My partner knew such a person, who ran her life according to astrologer Jonathan Cainer, and the laws of feng shui. She was completely reliant on both in order to function.

yes, i read my stars daily, and actually think there could be some sense in them.

i've had no proof, but i still think they are worth while

I never said that I would liv my life according to the stars. All I said was that I think astrology is interesting. I also know that no one can go by what a daily horoscope in the newspaper says. You can't apply it to you as an individual. I know that there's so many factors, when it comes to a personal reading. Like Star said, all of the planets play a role in everything.

I would ask how the stars, planets, and the like influence us. For example, is it a magnetic vibration, or some kind of energy (atheric energy) which we cannot perceive? I think that in some way everything affects everything else; actually I believe that it is all one thing, that everything we perceive is interconnected, and that what we experience as reality is an illusion created by our own minds... I don't dismiss astrology and what it has to offer, however I don't know if I would put much stock in it until I better understood it.

How do planets and their movement affect us? Ok, howdoes the Moon remain rotating around the Earth and the Earth around the Sun? Obviously certain magnetic energies keep them there. If these energies can keep a whole planet on its appointed path you think they will not affect the people living on that planet? Why do the fases of the Moon affect the tide of water? Don't you think it also affects the tide of the water inside the human body? The human cells? Our bodies are mande of molecules who are madeof atoms who like planets rotate around creating magnetic fields. We don't think of these details because we see skin and hair and bones and blood. But we are a micro cosmos inside a cosmos. All that happens in the universe affects us like the Sun spots can affect radio waves. We just live every day forgeting that our bodies produce chemicals, electrical signals, magnetic fields. We are not that different from the universe around us if you stop and think about it. And no, Astrology is not a religion. It is not based on blind faith based on a book as the bible, written thousands of years ago. Astrology is research, and is very much connected to both psychology and philosophy. I don't believe in astrology as I don't believe in psychology, but they both can help us explain events in our lives. That is all. Star

Maybe human beings are the ones affecting the universe. After all, some religions hold that all things are or were intended to be under our dominion.
